If you’re curious about how it works, let us take you through exactly what we do with your waste

• First, our technicians collect your food waste using specialist food waste-powered vehicles. We then deliver the food to our dedicated anaerobic digestion plant.
• The waste is stripped of packaging, plastic and any other contaminants, before being broken down to start the feeding process.
• Anaerobic digestion then gets to work in our temperature-controlled tanks. The term ‘anaerobic digestion’ describes a collection of processes whereby micro-organisms break down biodegradable materials without the need for oxygen.
• Once 72 hours have passed, biogas is produced, which is then pumped into the National Grid to give renewable, clean energy to thousands of homes and businesses across the country.
• Now that all the potential energy has been extracted, the leftover material is perfect for high-quality fertiliser that meets PAS 110 standards. We give this rich fertiliser to local farms, helping them grow crops without the need for chemical alternatives.
• This fertiliser creates more food, which is once again fed back into the food waste cycle. With the help of Bio Collectors, you can guarantee that your food waste is always fully recycled to contribute to this closed-loop economy.
